Indian Navy Warship INS Tamal To Be Commissioned In Russia Today

The Indian Navy commissioned its latest stealth warship, INS Tamal, in Kaliningrad, Russia, on July 1.

The warship is equipped with BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, surface-to-air missiles, torpedoes, and anti-submarine rockets.

Capable of sailing at over 30 knots, INS Tamal is designed for high-speed, long-range maritime operations.

It is the second ship of the Tushil-class and the eighth in the Krivak-class series built with Russian collaboration.

Over 250 Indian naval personnel, trained in the harsh winters of Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg, will operate the vessel.

The warship includes 26 indigenous systems, in line with India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ initiatives.

After commissioning, INS Tamal will join the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet, boosting India’s maritime strength in the region.
